Baby Dedication - 5/8/2010

Olivia had her baby dedication yesterday afternoon at church. Our church doesn't do an infant baptism, but we do, do a dedication where we dedicated Olivia to be raised in a Christian home and brought up to follow Christ...when Olivia makes the decision to be baptised when she's older, there will be yet another celebration!

Family picture before the service started

In front of church with all the 10 other families (there were about 50 families total throughout the weekend services)

Both Chad's parents and mine were able to join us along with Olivia's Godparents, Carrie and Kyle. Close friends came as well and we were so excited they were there with us on this special day - Diane and Scott, Jason, Jim and Rachel, and Alyssa and Jeff. What a great day!

After the service we all came back to our house for a good BBQ...it was a wonderful day with special friends and family!

Mouth Meet Foot

Yes, Olivia's foot has made it's way to her mouth! She seems to do it every time we put her on the changing table. Just one more thing to add to the list of "activities" that are ever changing and growing!

Poplar Bluff HERE WE COME!!!

Today we made a 2.5 hour trek to Poplar Bluff, MO (for those of you unfamiliar with this area...it's VERY small!) to watch Tyler play ball! Olivia's been to about 6 of Ty's games now, but today was the FIRST time she was actually active and awake the whole time and she did GREAT!!! I'm always so worried that she's going to get upset or have a "bad" day, but she does AWESOME every time.

UNCLE TY!!!! GO #7!!!

We were able to see Grandma and Grandpa Wrinkle today too...they were so excited to see Olivia!

Daddy, Grandpa Wrinkle and Miss O
Yay...Grandma Wrinkle!

Tyler and his team did great...they won both games and Tyler had a game winning double to win the second (Ty, I think I got that right?!?!).

Mark this down...I made the blog!

Pears are a HIT!!!

So, this afternoon we took a cube of pears out of the freeze and Olivia ate "real" food for the first time. She wasn't quite sure about it to start with, but when she finally got the hang of it she was good to go! Her faces were cracking me up...it was like she was trying to figure out what in the world was on her tongue...we may have gotten more on her bib than in her mouth, but it was her first try and we think she did GREAT!!!

The Pears

Hey guys...I'm over here (Chad was right there)

I think I might be more excited about this than she is

Look at the way she's holding Chad's hand and carefully eating off the spoon...HOW CUTE???

Chad was making airplane noises on the way in

Who's excited???!!!

Dad, I'm fine...get back...

Daddy Time!!!

Yesterday Chad got home late afternoon and Olivia got to spend some time with her daddy!!! We aren't very good at having photos with Chad or me with Olivia, I'm going to try and get better at this AND have more photos of me too!

Spring Photos --- Miss O, 4 months!!!

So all of my flowering bushes are in full bloom in our backyard...waiting on the flowers to bloom, shouldn't be long at all and then we'll have more picture ops.

Enjoy!

Making Baby Food --- Pears!

So one of the MANY great baby shower gifts I received was a baby food maker (steamer and processor in one) from Donna and Pete...tonight was our first night to try it out.

Left is to steam, right is to process

Chad went to the grocery store to get us some fresh pears...they were $1 per pound this week and were GREAT. So all we had to do was cut up one pear, steam it, take out half the water that was left over and then process the food....it was SO EASY...and it tastes GREAT!!! We're going to really try to keep this up since 1 pear gives us about a week's worth of food for her right now...we're starting out slowly.

The pear

Chad slicing and peeling the pear AFTER it was cooked...note to self, much easier to peel BEFORE cooking
Final product...it was SOOO GOOD!

Many of you may be wondering why pears...well, little Miss O has problems with her poo and all the other foods we could start her on (rice cereal or applesauce) can clog her up. If pears go well we'll move to applesauce or rice cereal, but I'll need to increase her prune juice when I do...taking things one step at a time...stay tuned for more baby food posts!!!
